1964 Philadelphia Football Unopened Wax Box (24 Packs)

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $19,200

Presented is an exceptional complete original unopened wax box of 1964 Philadelphia Football. The box contains twenty-four wax packs with each pack containing five cards, for a total of 120 cards. The 1964 Philadelphia set features all the stars of the day highlighted by thirty-four Hall of Famers, including Jim Brown, Bart Starr, and Johnny Unitas, as well as the Hall of Fame rookie cards of Merlin Olsen, Herb Adderley, Willie Davis, Mick Tingelhoff, and John Mackey. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within this box are cards in extremely high grade of these stars as well as all the other cards from the set. This is the first complete unopened wax box from this issue that we have ever offered, and it is also the first that we have ever seen available at public auction in the last twenty years. This is a very rare box! It was recently discovered by our consignor along with two other boxes still housed in a portion of its original (and very brittle) cellophane, exactly as issued in 1964. The cellophane was removed to allow for careful examination of the packs enclosed. The box comes shrink-wrapped by Baseball Card Exchange (Steve Hart), the foremost expert on unopened material. The display box is bright and clean, with a few minor wrinkles along the bottom, having been perfectly preserved for more than fifty years. This is a tremendous original wax box of this popular football set that would be a worthy addition to even the most advanced football or unopened material collection. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $19,200
