1922 E120 American Caramel Babe Ruth

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $6,000

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Extremely attractive E120 American Caramel of Babe Ruth, the key card from this distinctive early 1920s caramel issue. Only nine examples have ever been graded higher by PSA! Ruth is featured in full uniform holding a baseball in his right hand. This is an exceptional example of one of the great classic Ruth cards of the early 1920s. Bright and clean, both front and back, with flawless image clarity, excellent centering, a tiny crease in the upper right, and strong corners displaying just a hint of wear (most noticeable in the bottom right). The reverse is also perfectly clean and boldly printed. While Babe Ruth cards have always held a special place with collectors, interest in early Ruth cards, especially those in mid- to high-grade, have seen a dramatic increase in recent years. This is a very attractive and rarely encountered example of key card Babe Ruth from this classic 1920s caramel set that is the most comprehensive set of the era, issued during Ruth's third year with the Yankees. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $6,000
