1935 R321 Goudey "4-in-1" Babe Ruth PSA EX 5

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,200

Graded EX 5 by PSA. Exceptionally attractive high-grade example of the key card from the 1935 Goudey “4-in-1” set, featuring Babe Ruth on his final card issued during his playing days. The 1935 Goudey cards are particularly hard to find in high grade. The colored flush-to-the-border design makes them very susceptible to edge and corner wear. This is an unusually crisp and clean example of Babe Ruth, with no creases, outstanding centering, and just the slightest hint of wear at the tips of the corners. The 1935 Goudey of Ruth is a fascinating card. While Ruth is identified with the Boston Braves, Goudey has actually borrowed and cropped the Yankee dugout pose image of Ruth’s card #181 from the 1933 Goudey series. The three other players who appear on the card are McManus, Brandt, and Maranville. The puzzle section on the reverse is “Picture 1 Card J.” This is a very attractive example of one of Babe Ruth’s most overlooked but significant cards: his final card from his playing days. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,200
