1914 E145 Cracker Jack SGC-Graded Collection (30) Including Carey, Marquard, Schalk, and Cicotte
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,900
Collection of thirty different 1914 E145 Cracker Jack cards, each graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA), highlighted by Hall of Famers Max Carey, Rube Marquard, and Ray Schalk, as well as Black Sox star Eddie Cicotte, eleven Federal Leaguers, and several harder-to-find cards. The 1914 #144 series Cracker Jacks are far rarer than their 1915 counterparts, because the 1914 cards were not available by mail, and could only be obtained one card per package in boxes of Cracker Jacks. Because of their method of issue, 1914 Cracker Jacks are also almost always found with various condition problems including caramel staining. SGC Grading Composite: POOR 10 (19 cards): #10 McInnis, 20 Falkenberg, 26 Scott, 29 Gregg, 43 Marquard (HOF), 61 Schalk (HOF), 80 Reulbach, 81 Delehanty, 83 Ford, 84 Knetzer, 92 Demaree, 94 Cicotte (Black Sox), 108 Magee, 118 Konetchy, 130 Wingo, 137 Rariden, 140 Murphy, 142 Packard, and 143 Daubert. Authentic (11 cards): #13 Wilson, 33 Strunk, 64 Archer, 71 Meyers, 73 Carey (HOF), 78 Merkle, 79 Bodie, 115 Brennan, 126 Blair, 128 Evans, and 135 Killifer. Despite the modest assigned grades, this remains an extremely pleasing collection, with almost all of the cards presenting with bold colors and minimal caramel staining on the fronts. This is a very attractive and sizable collection of classic 1914 Cracker Jacks that would be worthy additions to any prewar-card collection. The equivalent SMR value for just nineteen of the cards (not including the eleven cards graded Authentic) is $1,540. Total: 30 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $3,900
