1915 T214 Victory Tobacco Rube Oldring - Previously Uncataloged!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $840

Presented is an outstanding, previously uncataloged T214 Victory Tobacco example of Rube Oldring of the Philadelphia Athletics. This set is sometimes mistaken for the T206 White Border set and is closely related, sharing the same designs. The 1915 T214 Victory set, issued exclusively in the Louisiana area, is one of the great legendary rarities of tobacco-card collecting. Even a sample card from this set is a challenge to find. Victory Tobacco is one of the few sets which features players from the Federal League, in addition to players from the Major Leagues. This is a modestly-graded example, encapsulated POOR 10 by SGC (submitted by REA), due to a variety of condition flaws, including moderate creasing to the glossy coated surface, and, most important, extensive surface paper loss to the reverse. Despite the modest assigned grade and the paper loss to the reverse, the front of the card presents with vibrant colors, perfect centering, and even wear on the corners. T214 Victory Tobacco cards are rare in any grade, and the offered card is particularly desirable as a previously uncataloged example. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $840
