1910-1912 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 1) George Mullin - Previously Uncataloged!
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,160
Graded EX 60 by SGC. Extremely rare and previously uncataloged sample card of 1910-1912 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 1) featuring George Mullin of the Detroit Tigers. T215 Red Cross is one of tobacco-card collecting's most overlooked issues. Very similar in design to and borrowing images from the T206 set, T215 Red Cross cards are believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area. The cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 inches, which is the standard size for tobacco issues. This is an outstanding card in all respects, and it is simply far superior to what is normally found for Red Cross Tobacco. Bright and clean, with vibrant colors and light wear at the corners. The flawless image is centered very slightly to the right. The reverse is centered to the left (when held horizontally as intended) and is entirely clean with bold, crisp print, an ideal quality for a sample of this scarce issue. T215s tend to survive in very modest condition, which makes this sample all the more noteworthy in addition to its distinction as a new catalog checklist entry. This is an extraordinary high-grade sample from one of tobacco-card collecting's rarest sets. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,160
