1912-1913 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 2) Steve Evans - Highest Graded - Previously Uncataloged!
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,040
Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC (submitted by REA). Highest-graded example! Extremely rare sample card of 1912-1913 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 2), featuring Steve Evans of the St. Louis Cardinals. Evans is a previously uncataloged subject within the set. T215 Red Cross is one of tobacco-card collecting's most overlooked issues. Very similar in design and borrowing images from the T206 set, T215 Red Cross cards are believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area. The cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 inches, which is the standard size for tobacco issues. The offered example is bright, crisp, and clean, with bold colors, four strong corners, and perfect centering. A small crease in the lower right corner is responsible for the assigned grade. The brilliant Red Cross advertisement on the reverse is perfectly clean and centered. This is a very desirable and previously uncataloged sample from one of tobacco-card collecting's rarest sets. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,040
