1920 W516-1 Babe Ruth

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $720

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Very attractive example of Babe Ruth from the W516-1 strip-card series. Ruth is depicted in a pitching pose as a member of the New York Yankees. W516-1 are rarely deemed worthy of numerically grading; due to its ideal cut, this is one of the few exceptions! The card displays a crisp image, bold colors, and centering slightly to the right. The corners show even wear, and faint horizontal surface wrinkling is present through the center of the card. The blank reverse is entirely clean. This is a superb (numerically graded!) example of one of Babe Ruth's most classic 1920s strip-cards and one that would be a significant addition to any Babe Ruth, strip-card, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $720
