1930 PR4 Cracker Jack Pins Complete Set (25): #6 PSA Set Registry (6.55 GPA)!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,440

Magnificent complete set of twenty-five PR4 Cracker Jacks pins, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA. This complete set currently ranks sixth on the PSA Set Registry with an impressive overall GPA of 6.55. These pins, which measure 13/16-inches in diameter, feature crisp line drawings of star players set against an off-white background. Each player is identified underneath his image. Among the twenty-five pins are seventeen Hall of Famers, including Dizzy Dean, Lou Gehrig, and Lefty Grove. PSA Grading Composite: Three PSA NM-MT 8: Cuyler (HOF), Grimm, and Suhr. Thirteen PSA NM 7: Berry, Cissell, Dean (HOF), Ferrell, Frisch (HOF), Gomez (HOF), Grantham, Grove (HOF), Maranville (HOF), Reynolds, Terry (HOF), Vance (HOF), and P. Waner (HOF). Six PSA EX-MT 6: Gehrig (HOF), Goslin (HOF), Lazzeri (HOF), Ruffing (HOF), Simmons (HOF), and Warneke. Three PSA EX 5: Hartnett (HOF), Jackson (HOF), and Lyons (HOF). While Cracker Jack is not mentioned by name anywhere on these pins, for some reason, this is what they have always been called in the pin-collecting world. Research into their origin actually points to Button Gum Co. of Chicago as their manufacturer. It is very possible (perhaps likely, especially in light of the fact that the Cracker Jack company was located in Chicago) that in addition to being marketed by the manufacturer, they were also sold to Cracker Jack for insertion as prizes during the early 1930s. This is a tremendous complete set of these classic 1930s litho pins with numerous highlights, including seventeen Hall of Famers. Total: 25 pins. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,440
