1909-1911 T206 White Border Patsy Dougherty Portrait - Interesting Printing Anomaly with Parts of Two Backs Showing!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $600

Fascinating example of Patsy Dougherty (Chicago White Sox) from the legendary T206 White Border series. While at first glance the offered card may appear to just be a regular common, it is particularly notable for a significant printing anomaly on the back which has resulted in portions of multiple advertising backs being visible. The front is well centered side-to-side and slightly to the top, but the card experienced shifting of the reverse production sheet during the printing process. Graded POOR 10 by SGC due to a few tiny spots of paper loss on the front, the card is bright and clean, with even wear to the corners. Approximately 80% of a regular Piedmont advertising reverse is visible while 20% of another Piedmont 150 back is visible along the right side. The T206 set, affectionately known as "The Monster," is the most popular of all 1910-era sets and is still yielding new and exciting discoveries more than a century after its production. As collectors have become more sophisticated, there has been a growing appreciation for all great rarities and unusual cards associated with this landmark set. This a very noteworthy T206 printing error that we believe will be of great interest to T206 scholars and collectors. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $600
