1957 "Keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn" Pin
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,800
This classic pinback rarity with a simple but heartfelt message dates from the Dodgers' final season in Brooklyn, 1957. Few teams have ever represented the soul and spirit of their hometowns like the Dodgers in Brooklyn. When Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley began talk of possibly moving the Dodgers out of Brooklyn in 1957, the Flatbush faithful made their opinion clear by wearing this button that reads "Keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn." Unfortunately, the campaign met with little success, as the Dodgers fled to the West Coast, leaving most fans with just a lot of fond memories, and a few diehard fans one of these "cause" pins which are now among the most noteworthy and significant of all Brooklyn Dodgers pinbacks. Manufactured by the Spiegel Novelty Co., as noted by the printing on the edge. Ex, with light surface wear and normal minor oxidation on the reverse. 1.5 inches in diameter.
