1960 Jim Brown Cleveland Browns Die-Cut Advertising Display
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $600
Rare Jim Brown die-cut advertising display dating from the 1960 season. The display features a large photographic image of Brown in uniform, with his name and position printed directly below. The text reads "See 'Em Play - The Cleveland Browns." Printed below the text is the Cleveland Browns home schedule, including preseason games. Although no year is specified, given the dates listed here, this piece can be conclusively dated to 1960. NFL display pieces from this era are scarce, especially those featuring a player of Jim Brown's stature. This is the first example of this piece we have ever seen and, being a regional issue of limited distribution, we cannot imagine that many others have survived. The display (11 x 14 inches), which features an easel back, displays a number of minor abrasions on Brown's image and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $600
