1909 Boston Red Sox Opening Day Invitation

Formal invitation to the Boston Red Sox Opening Day game of 1909. The beautifully designed invitation (7.75 x 9.75 inches) to the club's home opener on April 21, 1909, is highlighted by the colorful embossed logo displayed along the top. The logo features the team name "Boston Americans" printed along a banner, above which is displayed a baseball motif flanked by two American flags and a bald eagle. The text, printed in grand calligraphic style, reads "The Boston American League Base Ball Club requests the honor of your presence at The Opening Game of the Season Wednesday afternoon April 21st 1909 at three o'clock Huntington Avenue Ball Grounds Boston." The fold-over invitation (blank interior) displays a horizontal centerfold and is otherwise in Excellent to Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $4,500
