1946 St. Louis Cardinals World Champions Team-Signed $2 Bill - PSA/DNA
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,560
Two-dollar bill signed on the front and reverse by thirty-three members of the 1946 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signatures certified as "Authentic." The signatures, executed in both brown and black ink, include those of Musial (NL batting champion), Schoendienst, Slaughter, Marion, Brecheen, Kurowski, Garagiola, Pollet, Walker, Sisler, Rice, Wilks, Dickson, Jones, Munger, Beazley, Schmidt, and Burkhart. Two red typewritten notations appear, respectively, along the top front and reverse border. The front notation reads "1946 World Champion Cardinals," while the other reads "Caine Steel Co. Baseball Party 1947." This is not the first example of this 1946 St. Louis Cardinals team-signed bill we have seen, which indicates that they were most likely distributed as favors at the Cain Steel Co. baseball party held in 1947. All of the signatures are boldly scripted, grading "9" or "10," but a number of them contrast poorly against the dark background on the reverse. The bill displays handling wear, including a tiny chip in the upper right corner, and is in Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,560
