1933 R319 Goudey #234 Carl Hubbell PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,200
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Of the 498 examples graded by PSA, only six examples have ever been graded higher. Striking ultra high-grade example of this classic card of Hall of Fame pitcher Carl Hubbell from the 1933 Goudey series. The card exhibits a particularly bright, bold red background. Outstanding centering. Crisp and clean, both front and back (with hint of ink bleed/wet sheet transfer noticeable on the reverse and mentioned for the sake of accuracy). Hubbell was one of baseball's greatest pitchers; he will always be remembered for his five consecutive strikeouts of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin in the second Major League All-Star Game in 1934. This is a very attractive example in extremely high grade of one of Carl Hubbell's most classic cards and one that would be a significant addition to virtually any 1933 Goudey set or Hall of Fame collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,200
