1914 E145 Cracker Jack #23 Charles Comiskey

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $480

Graded VG/EX+ 55 by SGC (submitted by REA). Extremely attractive 1914 Cracker Jack #144 series of Hall of Famer Charles Comiskey. This is one of the most sought-after cards of the "Old Roman." The 1914 #144 series Cracker Jacks are far rarer than their 1915 counterparts, because the 1914 cards were not available by mail, and could only be obtained one card per package in boxes of Cracker Jacks. Because of their method of issue, 1914 Cracker Jacks are also almost always found with various condition problems, including caramel staining. This example is almost entirely clean, with just a few faint spots of staining, far less than normally encountered. The red color of the background is deep and vibrant. The printing registration is flawless. The square corners show light wear. There is a slight tilt to the image, which gives the appearance of being off-center. This is a very strong example of one of Charles Comiskey's most classic cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $480
