1954 Topps Complete Set (250)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,900

8% Nr/Mt, 52% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 40% Vg to Vg-Ex (most cards downgraded for honest corner wear or a light surface wrinkle). This is an extremely attractive complete set that, at a glance, looks even stronger than suggested by its technically accurate assigned grades. The 1954 Topps set has always been one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the 1954 Topps set features the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline, among many other Hall of Famers and stars, including two examples of Ted Williams (first and last card in the set), all in brilliant and stunning color. Eleven cards are graded by PSA. Keys: #1 Williams (Vg-Ex), 3 Irvin (Vg-Ex), 10 Robinson (Ex), 13 Martin (Ex-Mt+), 17 Rizzuto (Vg-Ex+), 20 Spahn (Vg), 30 Mathews (PSA NM 7), 32 Snider (Ex), 36 Wilhelm (PSA NM 7), 37 Ford (Ex), 45 Ashburn (PSA NM 7), 50 Berra (Ex), 70 Doby (Vg-Ex), 90 Mays (Vg), 94 Banks RC (Vg, miscut on top), 102 Hodges (Vg-Ex), 128 Aaron RC (Vg+), 132 Lasorda RC (PSA EX-MT 6), 201 Kaline RC (Vg+), 239 Skowron RC (Ex+), and 250 Williams (Vg-Ex). Other PSA-graded cards: #7 Kluszewski (PSA NM 7), 14 Roe (PSA NM 7), 25 Kuenn (PSA NM 7), 139 O’Brien Bros. (PSA EX-MT+ 6.5), 183 Combs (PSA NM-MT 8), 205 Sain (PSA EX-MT 6), and 210 Buhl (PSA NM 7). This is a very strong and extremely consistent complete set of this early 1950s classic, with tremendous eye-appeal throughout. Early sets in this grade are especially desirable, representing the most solid and least volatile value in the world of vintage cards. The SMR value for just the eleven graded cards (factoring in the one half-grade at the lower whole-grade level and not including the additional 239 ungraded cards!) is $790. Total: 250 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,900
