Series 1934 $500 Federal Reserve Note

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,700

Scarce $500 Federal Reserve note (Series 1934) featuring a portrait image of President William McKinley on the front. This particular bill, the back of which is largely unadorned and simply displays the number "500," represents the last of several designs used for the $500 bill between the years 1862 and 1934. $500 bills of this design were printed up until 1945 and they remained in circulation for another twenty-four years before being officially discontinued in 1969. The offered bill, which is still legal tender, is one of the rare survivors and appears to have never been circulated, given its apparent Near Mint condition. Encapsulated and graded "GEM UNCIRCULATED 66" by C.G.A. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,700
