1914 T216-2 Mino Cigarettes Eddie Collins Chicago SGC EX+ 70 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $2,280

Graded EX+ 70 by SGC (submitted by REA). This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher! Extremely rare T216-2 Mino Cigarettes sample card featuring Hall of Famer Eddie Collins (Chicago variation). The T216-2 Mino Cigarettes set is one of the rarest of all 1910-era tobacco-card issues. Produced by the People's Tobacco Co. of New Orleans, the T216-2 set was regionally issued only in the Louisiana area. Cards from this set feature advertising from three People's Tobacco Co. brands: Kotton, Mino, and Virginia Extra. All are rare; Mino may be the rarest of the three advertising backs. The offered card features a crisp portrait of Collins set against a striking bold green background, with four square corners showing minor wear, no creases, and centering slightly to the bottom. The reverse is clean and beautifully centered with a crisp advertisement for Mino Cigarettes. T216s tend to survive in very modest condition, which makes this sample all the more noteworthy. This is the highest grade ever given to a T216 Mino card (of any subject) by SGC, which has evaluated eighty-eight examples to date. This is an exceptional high-grade Hall of Fame sample from this rare and important tobacco set. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $2,280
