1919 T213 Coupon Cigarettes (Type 3) Frank Chance Portrait SGC NM 84 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,080

Graded NM 84 by SGC (submitted by REA). This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher! Exceptional ultra high-grade example of Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Frank Chance from the elusive and extremely rare Coupon Cigarettes (Type 3) tobacco-card set. T213 (Type 3) is a very interesting issue. Similar in design and borrowing the same images as T206, T213 (Type 3) is believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area, and was the very last of the traditional tobacco-card sets. The set was issued in 1919. T213 (Type 3) Coupons are far rarer than their T206 counterparts, and one of tobacco-card collecting's most overlooked issues. The offered example of Chance is outstanding in every way! It is crisp and clean, with a flawless portrait image set against a bold orange background. The corners are sharp and the centering is virtually perfect, with a very slight natural diamond cut visible under close inspection. The reverse is entirely clean. This is a superb example of one of Chance's rarest and most interesting tobacco cards, which would be a worthy addition to any Hall of Fame, sample, or rare vintage baseball-card-collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,080
