Circa 1910 Cap Anson Photo Collection (3)

Collection of three Cap Anson photos, together with an 1883 druggist's prescription for Anson, all of which originated long ago directly from the Anson family. Each of the photos pictures Anson after his playing career, circa 1910. These items were once part of the fabled Barry Halper Collection (Halper had purchased the majority of the Anson family archives and at one time had virtually everything the family had saved). These three items were sold, together with many other Anson items, as part of Lot 1202 in the 1999 sale of Halper's collection. 1) Professional studio photograph of Anson seated while looking at a document. An embossed credit stamp reading "Silver & Friedman/Chicago" appears in the lower left corner. 5.75 x 8.25 inches. Ex. 2) Professional studio photograph picturing a bust-length image of Anson. No photographer's credit. 3.75 x 5.25 inches. Ex. 3) Candid snapshot photo of Anson sleeping while sitting in a rocking chair. 3.25 x 5.5 inches. Vg-Ex. 4) Druggist's prescription for Anson, dated "11-24-83." The prescription sheet bears the preprinted name of druggist "F. J. Schneider - Main Street - Eureka, Nevada," along the top. 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Vg, with a spindle hole in the center, folds, and a tiny stain in the upper right corner.
