1911 M110 Sporting Life Cabinet Napoleon "Larry" Lajoie

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,600

Graded VG 3 by PSA (submitted by REA). Extremely attractive example of Hall of Famer Napoleon Lajoie from the M110 Sporting Life cabinet-card set issued in 1911. Do not be fooled by the technical grade! This is a magnificent example that has a superb Excellent or better overall appearance. It is bright and crisp, with light touches of corner wear, bold colors, and flawless colors. Two extremely faint surface wrinkles (most visible from the reverse only under extreme magnification - they weren't immediately obvious to us!) are present and account for the assigned grade. The back is otherwise perfectly clean and boldly printed. We personally grade this card higher. This is one of Lajoie's rarest and most attractive cards, and one of the key Hall of Famers in the set. M110s are similar in design to, but far rarer than, the contemporary T3 Turkey Red cabinets. These cards have always been highly respected for their extreme rarity as well as their impressive design and distinctive style. This is a very striking example of one of Lajoie’s rarest and most impressive cards in spectacular condition. Dimensions: 5-5/8 x 7-1/2 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,600
