1966-1967 "Summer of Love" Fillmore Auditorium and Avalon Ballroom Marquee Concert Posters (5)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $360
Dating from the "Summer of Love," each of these five vintage posters was issued for a concert held at either the Fillmore Auditorium or Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, California. It must be noted that all of these posters, which are mounted on extremely thick cardboard backings, were the original marquee posters that hung at the respective theater. As such, all display large mounting holes in both the upper right and left corners. Three of the posters date from 1966, while the other two date from 1967, the "Summer of Love." Included among the performers featured here are The Association, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Sam the Sham, Country Joe and the Fish, Moby Grape, The Blues Project, John Lee Hooker, and The Daily Flash. Each poster (13.5 x 19.5 inches) displays the aforementioned mounting holes, as well as general wear. Four display light-to-moderate staining in the border areas, while another displays a small corner chip. In Very Good condition overall. Total: 5 posters. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $360
