1946-1983 Hollywood Autograph Collection - Letters and Photos Signed to Actor Eddie Bracken Including Groucho Marx Letter

Collection of letters written to actor Eddie Bracken, a star of stage, screen, and television, by a number of famous actors and/or celebrities. Bracken began his acting career on the New York stage in the 1930s and later made the transition to film in the 1940s, when he became a star for his roles in The Miracle of Morgan's Creek and Hail the Conquering Hero. He returned to the stage in the 1950s and then later was a frequent guest star in many television series for over thirty years. This collection features nine one-page letters to Bracken from Hollywood celebrities spanning the years 1946 to 1983, plus a few additional signed items. The highlight of the group is a typed letter signed by Groucho Marx, on his personal letterhead, which is dated June 28, 1949. In his letter, Groucho offers his regrets that he cannot attended an unspecified function. It is signed simply "Groucho" in blue fountain pen (grading "10"). The remaining letters, all of which are typed-signed, featuring signatures grading "10" unless otherwise noted, are from George Murphy (1/24/46; signed "Murph"), Walter Winchell (8/25/47), Mike Wallace (10/6/59; signed "Mike"), Carol Channing (undated; handwritten; signed "Carol"), Eddie Cantor (undated; handwritten), Rudy Vallee (undated; signed "Rudy"), Dinah Shore (undated; handwritten; signed "Dinah"), and Ann Miller (undated; handwritten). Other signed items in the collection include a postcard signed by Emmett Kelly, a 1979 film program signed by Betty Hutton, a cut portion of a letter signed by John Lindsay (former Mayor of New York), a photo signed by George Wallace (former Governor of Alabama), a photo signed by Terry Moore, and two photos signed by Bracken himself. All of the letters, which range in size from 6 x 4 inches to 8.5 x 11 inches, are in Excellent condition overall, as are the photos.
