1933 R319 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $7,800

Graded VG 40 by SGC. Extremely attractive midgrade example of one of Babe Ruth’s most classic cards: #53 with yellow background from the 1933 Goudey series. The "yellow background" pose of Babe Ruth is, without a doubt, his most difficult to obtain and sought-after card in the 1933 Goudey set. This is a very bright card, with even wear at the corners (very slightly more in the upper left) and near-perfect centering. Downgraded due to two very light diagonal creases in each of the bottom two corners most visible from the reverse. The back is otherwise clean, with bold green print set against a white background. We grade this card slightly higher than the SGC-assigned grade. This is a superb example of one of Babe Ruth's most classic cards from the popular 1933 Goudey Gum series, and one that offers collectors an outstanding opportunity to acquire a great-looking iconic Babe Ruth card at a fraction of the cost of a higher-graded example. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $7,800
