1939 R165 "War News Pictures" Advertising Window Sign
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $840
Presented is an extremely rare advertising window display from the R165 "War News Pictures" set. This advertising piece (9.5 x 7.5) was produced by Gum, Inc., to advertise the then just-released set of cards, which chronicles the extraordinary world events unfolding at the time. The exceptional graphics and historically significant subject matter of this gum-card issue make it one of the all-time classics of nonsport sets from the 1930s. This advertising display features a large image of the artwork to card #77 "Nazi Machine Gunners Slay Polish Cavalry" on the front. Bright and clean, presenting as Near Mint from the front. The blank reverse shows light adhesive residue and a few small areas of paper loss, both to be expected given the intended use of this piece. This item comes from the collection of an advanced longtime nonsport collector, and it is one of only three that we have ever seen. A tremendous prize from this classic and extremely popular 1930s gum-card issue. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $840
