1909-1911 T206 White Border PSA- and SGC-Graded Joe Birmingham Complete Advertising-Back Collection (10 Different Plus Printing Anomaly)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,200

Presented is an outstanding collection of ten different T206 Joe Birmingham (Cleveland Naps) cards, each with a different advertisement on the reverse, plus an eleventh card notable for its nameplate printed at top and bottom. This represents a complete collection of all ten known advertising backs and factory combinations for this card. (Birmingham is theorized to exist with an El Principe De Gales back according to T206Resource.com, but an example has not yet surfaced to confirm this.) T206s are the single most important and highly collected of all 1910-era cards. One of the primary characteristics of the T206 set is that most players are featured with different advertising on the reverses. This high-quality collection of eleven cards of Birmingham captures the spirit of the set, illustrating the different advertisements on the backs of the same player pose. Together these cards complement one another and tell part of the story of the T206 set. All eleven cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA (six) or SGC (five). This collection consists of the following: Brown Hindu (PSA GOOD 2), Old Mill (SGC POOR 10), two Piedmont 150 (PSA VG-EX 4 and SGC FAIR 20, partial name at top and bottom), Piedmont 350 (PSA EX 5), Sovereign 150 (PSA VG 3), Sovereign 350 (PSA VG+ 3.5), Sweet Caporal 150 Factory 25 (PSA VG-EX 4), Sweet Caporal 150 Factory 30 (SGC GOOD+ 35), Sweet Caporal 350 Factory 25 (SGC GOOD 30), and Sweet Caporal 350 Factory 30 (SGC GOOD 30). This group of eleven cards represents every known advertisement and factory combination (plus one interesting printing anomaly) for the T206 Birmingham tobacco card. Total: 11 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,200
