1925 Ty Cobb Testimonial Dinner Program

Program issued for a testimonial dinner celebrating Ty Cobb's twentieth season with the Detroit Tigers, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Book-Cadillac Hotel in Detroit, Michigan, on August 29, 1925. The cover of the program features a literary tribute to Cobb penned by famed sportswriter Grantland Rice. The interior front cover displays a beautiful portrait image of Cobb, while the interior back cover features two additional photos of Cobb in action, as well as a listing of his batting records. Cobb's seasonal batting statistics are recorded on the last page. The interior pages list the menu and the order of the speakers, including Connie Mack, Billy Evans, and, lastly, Cobb himself. The four-page program (6.25 x 8.5 inches), which is complete with its original black-and-gold string binding, displays moderate wear, including a number of tiny border chips.
