1907 Cubs on Parade Sheet Music Dedicated to Frank Chance

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $240

Attractive sheet music for the 1907 march two-step Cubs on Parade, written by H. R. Hempel (Tomaz F. Deuther, Chicago, 1907). The colorful cover features a photo of Chicago Cubs owner Charles Murphy and player/manager Frank Chance sitting together in the dugout alongside a large illustration of bear cubs lined up "on parade." As noted in print along the top border of the front cover, this song was "Dedicated to Mr. Frank Chance." The Cubs, and in particular, Frank Chance, were the toast of the town in the fall of 1907 after having defeated the Detroit Tigers in the World Series, an accomplishment which no doubt inspired this musical homage. Both covers to the sheet music (10.5 x 13.5 inches) are detached, and the front cover displays a few tape repairs on the interior to a number of small tears. Technically in Fair to Good condition, but Excellent in its overall appearance, with no significant flaws to the front-cover graphics.
Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $240
