1907 New York Giants (vs. Philadelphia) Scorecard (Mathewson Wins!)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,920

Eight-page New York Giants program issued for a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at the Polo Grounds in 1907. The preprinted lineups on the interior scorecard pages include Bresnahan, Mathewson, Devlin, Corcoran, Browne, and Seymour for New York, and McGee, Titus, Brainsfield, and Dooin for Philadelphia. The program is neatly scored to record a 6-1 victory by the Giants, with Mathewson recording the complete-game victory. Research indicates that this game took place on May 30th and was the second game of a doubleheader. That information is confirmed by the vintage pencil notations at the top of the front cover that read "New York 6 Philadelphia 1/May 30th/Declaration Day/1907." Additional vintage pencil notations, listing the battery for each team, appear on the scoring sheet. A tiny ink notation, listing the team and year, is printed on the top of the back cover. The program (6.75 x 10.25 inches) displays a heavy vertical fold, separation along the spine that has been repaired on the interior with clear tape, as well as a few tears to the back cover and a few pages that have also been repaired with clear tape. In Good condition overall.
