1905 Sporting Life American and National League Schedule Booklets (2)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,080
Pair of very scarce Sporting Life Major League Baseball schedules, one for the American League and one for the National League, dating from 1905. Sporting Life published schedule booklets for the American and National Leagues from 1904 through 1914; however, those published from 1904 through 1907 are not only the most substantial, but the most highly prized by advanced collectors because they feature composite photos of each Major League team on the page opposite its respective home and away schedule. Collectors will immediately recognize the team composite images as being the very same as the W601 Sporting Life premiums that were available from the company by mail; and, in fact, an advertisement for the W601 team composites with instructions on how to order them appears below each team composite image! In essence, each of these two offered schedule booklets provides a "mini-W601" complete set within its pages, advertising for the current W601 set, and features photographs of every member of every team in both the National and American Leagues, not to mention schedules for each team for the entire season. Each soft-cover schedule booklet is twenty pages and measures 4 x 5 inches. The American League book is in Very Good condition, with partial separation to the covers along the spine, a pinhole in the upper left corner that affects each cover and every page, and a few edge tears to the covers. The National League book is in Fair to Good condition, with a missing back cover, a detached front cover, a pinhole in the upper right corner that affects each cover and every page, and a few creases and edge tears to the front cover. Total: 2 booklets. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,080
