1933 R73 Goudey Indian Gum PSA-Graded Collection (47)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,600

Presented is an extremely attractive, crisp, high-grade collection of forty-seven cards from the 1933 R73 Goudey Indian Gum series, each professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. This is an impressive group! Goudey Indian Gum is one of the most popular and difficult to complete of all the 1930s gum-card issues. Advanced collectors are well aware that Indian Gum cards are far more difficult to collect in high grade than baseball cards of the era, in part because they are rarer. Goudey's 1933 R73 Indian Gum series is one of the most popular nonsport sets ever issued. Its outstanding color, detailed artwork, and popular subject matter all contribute to making this set one of nonsport collecting's all-time classics. This lot consists of the following: NM+ 7.5 (2 cards): #72 and 76. NM 7 (21 cards): #34, 35, 38 Sitting Bull, 39, 49, 52 Davy Crockett, 58, 64, 70 Capt. John Smith, 76, 77, 85, 90, two 93, 96, 105, two 123, 135, and 143. EX-MT+ 6.5 (8 cards): #47, 50 Daniel Boone, 51, 62, 65, 76 Pony Express, 84, and 106. EX-MT 6 (7 cards): #66, 74, 75, 105, 122, 129, and 143. EX+ 5.5 (1 card): #111. EX 5 (5 cards): #29, 30, 44, 48, and 57. VG-EX 4 (3 cards): #30, 68 Kit Carson, and 112. Each card is bright, crisp, and clean, with even the lesser-graded examples presenting extremely well, with brilliant colors and bold images. According to our consignor, these outstanding cards originate from a recently uncovered fresh-to-the-hobby collection and all were just recently graded by PSA. The total SMR value in the assigned grades (factoring in the eleven half-grades at the lower whole-grade level) is $2,428. Total: 47 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,600
