1953 Red Man Tobacco PSA-Graded Collection (14) Including Four Hall of Famers
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,440
Superb high-grade collection of fourteen different 1953 Red Man tobacco cards (all with tabs), each graded and encapsulated by PSA. This collection is highlighted by Hall of Famers Nelson Fox, Red Schoendienst, Enos Slaughter, and Warren Spahn. PSA Grading Composite: Six NM-MT 8: #2A, 5A Fox (HOF), 13A, 15A, 20A, and 22A. One NM+ 7.5: #2N. Six NM 7: #6A, 7A, 11A, 13N Slaughter (HOF), 18N, and 19N Spahn (HOF). One VG-EX 4: #12N Schoendienst (HOF). Each card is remarkably crisp and clean, with brilliant colors, flawless surface, and sharp corners. The Schoendienst has a very hard-to-see crease, which accounts for the modest grade despite a Near Mint overall appearance. Red Man Tobacco cards are far rarer than most 1950s baseball cards. Because of their tabs (which were designed to be cut) and method of issue, they often have condition problems. This is a gorgeous collection of cards in very high grade with several notable highlights. Many consider Red Man Tobacco to represent one of the best values of all cards from the era. The total SMR value for the collection (excluding the Schoendienst) is $2,315. Total: 14 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $1,440
