1909-1911 T206 White Border Peter Cassidy Blank Back & Color Variation Plus Cycle 350 PSA EX 5
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,560
Offered is an outstanding pair of Peter Cassidy (Baltimore) cards from the legendary T206 series: a fascinating printing anomaly and a PSA EX 5 example with a desirable Cycle 350 advertising back. The printing anomaly is a hand-cut blank back that also appears to be missing part of the color process. Instead of a dark green background (as seen in the Cycle example), the card displays as light blue, and there is no color in Cassidy's face. The reverse of the card is blank. Blank backs are very scarce, and according to T206Resource.com, they currently rank as the tenth most difficult back variety (out of thirty-nine). The combination of a color variation and blank back is especially remarkable. Centered entirely to the left, with strong corners (slightly more wear in the lower left) and light creasing (most visible from the reverse). Encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC because all blank backs are hand-cut. This is a very unusual (and in our experience extremely rare) printing anomaly that is likely to be of great interest to collectors of all the various nuances of the legendary T206 set. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,560
