1911 T5 Pinkerton Cabinet #522 Eddie Collins

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,440

Tremendous example of Philadelphia Athletics Hall of Famer Eddie Collins in a fielding pose from the T5 Pinkerton cabinet-card set. Two poses of Collins were issued in the T5 series: batting and fielding. T5s are one of the rarest sets from the 1910 era, and have always been highly prized by serious collectors. This is a striking and impressive card of Collins. Bright, fresh, and impeccably clean, both front and back. The photograph of Collins is mounted along the left edge (when held horizontally as intended) as issued. T5 Pinkertons are found with two different mount styles: a thick cabinet-card mount with a surrounding embossed decorative imprint and a thin paper mount. The offered example is on the more desirable higher-quality thick mount. Excellent to Mint condition. This is an ideal T5 Pinkerton cabinet card that would be a significant addition to any Hall of Fame or prewar-card collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,440
