1933 R319 Goudey Near-Complete Set (222/240) Including 180 PSA-Graded Cards

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $7,200

Presented is an outstanding near-complete set of 1933 Goudey Gum cards consisting of 222 different out of 240 in a complete set. A total of 180 cards are professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Among the missing cards are all four Babe Ruths and both Lou Gehrigs (as well as #106 Lajoie), which naturally makes this near-complete set far more affordable than if these cards were included. The 1933 Goudey set is universally recognized as the single most popular and collected of all 1930s gum issues, and one of the most significant of all prewar baseball-card issues. This near-complete set is highlighted by an impressive forty-seven Hall of Famers. PSA Grading Composite: EX+ 5.5 (1 card): #201. EX 5 (5 cards): #148, 172, 180, 191, and 223 Dean (HOF). This collection of 222 different 1933 Goudeys (missing only eighteen cards, including #106 Lajoie for completion) has many highlights and is an extremely attractive near-complete set of this classic 1930s gum-card issue in a very desirable range of grades. The total SMR value for just 148 of the graded cards (not including the thirty-two qualified cards and also not including the forty-two ungraded cards!) is $8,212. Total: 222 cards. Reserve $2,500.
