1912-1913 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 2) Eddie Collins
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,400
Graded EX-MT 6 (MC) by PSA. The is the ONLY example (at any grade) evaluated by PSA or SGC to date! Extremely rare sample card of 1912-1913 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 2), featuring Hall of Famer Eddie Collins of the Philadelphia Athletics. T215 Red Cross is one of tobacco-card collecting's most overlooked issues. Very similar in design and borrowing images from the T206 set, T215 Red Cross cards are believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area. The cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 inches, which is the standard size for tobacco issues. The offered T215 (Type 2) of Collins shares the same image with his classic T206 card. The offered example is bright, crisp, and clean, with bold colors, four strong corners, and centering almost entirely to the bottom, which is responsible for the qualifier. The brilliant Red Cross advertisement on the reverse is perfectly clean and centered. This is a very desirable Hall of Fame sample in an extremely high grade from one of tobacco-card collecting's rarest sets. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $2,400
