1903 W600 Sporting Life Cabinet Napoleon Lajoie
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,200
Extremely attractive, modestly graded example of key Hall of Famer Napoleon Lajoie from the W600 Sporting Life cabinet card set. W600s are one of the rarest sets from the early part of the century, and are one of the most substantial and well-made card sets ever produced. They have, with good reason, always been highly prized by serious collectors. This is one of the rarest and most impressive of all Napoleon Lajoie cards. The offered example has a perfectly clean and crisp image of Lajoie, light chipping along the edges, and even wear at the corners. Four small pinholes - two in the center of the top border and one in each of the bottom corners (likely from mounting) - are responsible for the card's modest POOR 10 grade from SGC. The blank reverse displays small spots of surface chipping along the top edge. A very attractive yet relatively affordable key addition to any W600, Hall of Fame or prewar-card collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,200
