1954 Topps #128 Hank Aaron Rookie

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,200

Graded VG/EX+ 55 by SGC. Extremely attractive example of Hank Aaron's rookie card. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Aaron's rookie card is the key to the 1954 Topps set, and one of the most popular of all postwar baseball cards. This is a very strong and striking example. The card exhibits vibrant colors, four strong corners showing light touches of wear (a bit more in the upper right), outstanding centering, and perfect registration. A horizontal print line is visible along the bottom third of the card. Usually this card is offered by Robert Edward Auctions only in the context of a complete set, but we are presenting this modern classic as its own lot in part to emphasize that, with patience, some of card collecting's most noteworthy and iconic cards are possible to obtain in extremely desirable grade without spending a fortune. At least for now. (We remember years ago it was possible to buy a beautiful 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card in the VG to EX range without spending a fortune; those days are over!) This is a strong VG/EX+ example of Hank Aaron’s rookie card, one of the most important of all classic 1950s cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,200
