1922 W575-1 George "Babe" Ruth

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,800

Presented is an extremely attractive example of George "Babe" Ruth from the W575-1 strip-card series. The W575-1 set is very similar in nature to the American Caramel Company E121 issue as both sets feature the same design and likenesses for many of the players included. Encapsulated as "Authentic" by PSA due to its hand-cut nature, the card presents as Very Good overall, but would technically grade Fair to Good due to vertical creasing on the card front extending from the bottom border to the right of Ruth's image approximately halfway up the card. The blank reverse is entirely clean. Within the card-collecting world, this is a famous and extremely desirable pose of Ruth that appears in several other sets, including the 1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy. This is a tremendous opportunity to acquire a relatively affordable example of this 1920s strip card, sharing the exact image with other notable and extremely desirable Ruth cards of the era. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $4,800
