Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,000
Complete low number run (#1-310) from the classic 1952 Topps series. Missing only the ninety-seven rare high-number series cards (#311-407) for completion. Includes fifty-seven black backs. Condition is 60% Vg to Vg-Ex and 40% lesser (mostly Gd). Keys: #1 Pafko (Gd, black back), 2 Runnels RC (Gd), 11 Rizzuto (Gd), 20 Loes (Vg), 26 Irvin (Vg-Ex, black back), 29 Kluszewski (Vg), 33 Spahn (Vg, black back), 36 Hodges (Vg, black back), 37 Snider (Vg, black back), 48 Page/correct (Vg-Ex, black back), 49 Sain/correct (Vg, black back), 57 Lopat (Gd), 59 Roberts (Gd, black back), 65 Slaughter (Gd), 66 Roe (Gd), 67 Reynolds (Vg, black back), 88 Feller (Gd), 91 Schoendienst (Gd), 129 Mize (Gd+), 175 Martin RC (Gd), 191 Berra (Gd/Vg), 195 Minoso RC (Vg), 216 Ashburn (Vg), 243 Doby (Vg), 246 Kell (Vg), 261 Mays (Fr), 268 Lemon (Vg), 274 Branca (Fr), and 277 Wynn (Vg). This is a very pleasing low-number run, with all cards displaying bold colors and many of the lesser-graded cards presenting better than suggested by their technically accurate grades. This is a very attractive complete low-number run of 1952 Topps, one of card collecting’s most popular classics, in a very desirable and relatively affordable grade (compared to the cost of higher-grade 1952 Topps cards). A 1952 Topps low-number set run such as this is not easily found, represents a particularly outstanding collecting value, and, of course, is a very substantial start toward a complete set. Total: 310 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $3,000
