1953 Bowman Black & White Complete Master Set (65): #7 PSA Set Registry (7.16 GPA)!

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $9,000

Spectacular ultra high-grade complete 1953 Bowman Black & White 65-card master set consisting of all sixty-four cards in a basic set plus the back-of-card birth-year variation for card #43. This is by far the finest complete set of 1953 Bowman Black & White complete set we have ever offered during the past forty years! The complete set is entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA and currently ranks seventh on the PSA Set Registry with an impressive overall GPA of 7.16. The unusual Bowman Black & White set is by far the scarcer of the two 1953 Bowman baseball issues. This set is the result of many years of dedicated collecting by our consignor, who pursued this set with great attention to detail and a keen focus on eye-appeal and centering. This is, by far, the finest complete set of this issue that we have ever offered! PSA Grading Composite: NM-MT 8 (10 cards): #4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 20, 22, 25 Sain, 26 Roe, and 30. NM+ 7.5 (1 card): #50. NM 7 (54 cards): #1 Bell, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15 Mize (HOF), 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 23, 24, 27 Lemon (HOF), 28 Wilhelm (HOF), 29, 31 Woodling, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36 Piersall, 37, 38, 39 Stengel (HOF), 40, 41, 42, 43a (1950), 43b (1930), 44, 45, 46 Harris (HOF), 47, 48, 49, 51 Burdette, 52 Branca, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60 Cox, 61, 62, 63, and 64. The 1953 Bowman Black & White set gets less attention than 1953 Bowman Color because it is a smaller set and has fewer stars (and there is no Mantle) but in the "old days" of collecting, the 1953 Bowman Black & White cards were far more desirable to many collectors and were appreciated for their greater rarity, more so than in modern collecting times. The total SMR value in the assigned grades is $7,265. Total: 65 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000++. SOLD FOR $9,000
