1954 Topps Complete Set (250)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,900
6% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, 45% Ex, 30% Vg-Ex, and 19% Vg (including a few lesser). The 1954 Topps set has always been one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the 1954 Topps set features the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline, among many other Hall of Famers and stars, including two examples of Ted Williams (first and last cards in the set), all in brilliant and stunning color. This is an exceptionally attractive complete set, with particularly stunning examples of the key rookies. Four cards are graded and encapsulated by SGC and one by PSA. Keys: #1 Williams (Vg), 3 Irvin (Vg-Ex), 7 Kluszewski (Ex), 10 Robinson (Vg-Ex), 13 Martin (Vg-Ex), 17 Rizzuto (Vg), 20 Spahn (Vg-Ex), 30 Mathews (EX-MT 6), 32 Snider (NM 84), 36 Wilhelm (Vg), 37 Ford (Vg), 45 Ashburn (Vg-Ex), 50 Berra (Vg-Ex), 70 Doby (Vg+), 86 Herman (Ex), 90 Mays (Vg-Ex), 94 Banks RC (EX 60), 102 Hodges (Vg-Ex), 128 Aaron (VG/EX+ 55), 132 Lasorda RC (Vg+), 139 O'Brien Bros. (Vg), 166 Podres (Nr/Mt), 201 Kaline (VG/EX+ 55), 239 Skowron RC (Vg-Ex), and 250 Williams (Vg). This is a very attractive and, with few exceptions, extremely consistent complete set of this early 1950s classic, with tremendous eye-appeal throughout. Technically the set falls into the "very strong medium" grade category. It would be hard to imagine a true collector looking at this set and thinking anything but "Wow!" Early sets in this grade are especially desirable, and are among the most outstanding and least volatile values in the world of vintage cards. Total: 250 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $3,900
