Circa 1927 Babe Ruth Signed Newspaper Photo - PSA/DNA
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $5,100
Cut newspaper photo signed by Babe Ruth. The photo has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature certified as "Authentic." Ruth's black fountain-pen signature has been scripted across his image and grades "9." The caption below the photo reads "Banged out a pair of home runs yesterday to stretch his total to 52." Ruth only hit 52 or more home runs in four seasons: 1920, 1921, 1927, and 1928. Given the girth of Ruth's waistline in this photo, it must date to either of those two latter years. The photo (2 x 5 inches) has been neatly cut and appears to be mounted onto a piece of cardboard of equal size. In apparent Excellent to Mint condition. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $5,100
