1954 Topps Near-Complete Set (215/250) - High-Grade Set with Tape!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,920

Extremely presentable near-complete set of 1954 Topps consisting of 215 different cards out of 250 in a complete set, highlighted by several Hall of Famers, including Ted Williams, Yogi Berra, and Warren Spahn. The offered near-complete set is particularly interesting because every card presents with a small spot of tape residue in at least one corner on the reverse. This is very minor on some cards, but it is there and would ultimately cause the cards to grade modestly. The entire set is otherwise stunning, presenting as Excellent to Near Mint overall with just a few exceptions. Each card is bright and crisp, with bold colors and strong corners. The tape residue likely points to some method of preservation responsible for these attributes. The key cards included in this near complete set are #1 Williams, 3 Irvin, 13 Martin, 17 Rizzuto, 20 Spahn, 30 Mathews, 36 Wilhelm, 37 Ford, 45 Ashburn, 50 Berra, 70 Doby, 86 Herman, 102 Hodges, 183 Combs, and 187 Manush. Missing the following thirty-five cards for completion: #7, 10 Robinson, 26, 29, 32 Snider, 42, 49, 53, 59, 72, 90 Mays, 94 Banks RC, 105, 117, 119, 128 Aaron RC, 131, 132 Lasorda RC, 136, 139, 141, 147, 152, 159, 161, 201 Kaline RC, 203, 206, 227, 235, 238, 239, 242, 244, and 250 Williams. The 1954 Topps set has always been one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the 1954 Topps set is notable for the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline (none of which are included in this offering), among many other Hall of Famers and stars, all in brilliant and stunning color. This is an outstanding collecting opportunity to acquire a relatively affordable yet still exceptionally attractive near-complete set of this classic issue at a fraction of the cost of a set without the condition issues while sacrificing nothing in the way of display value. Total: 215 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,920
