1909 E92 Croft's Candy Cy Young

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $720

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. This rare Croft's Candy caramel issue of Cleveland Naps Hall of Famer Cy Young from 1909 shares designs with several other closely related candy issues (Dockman & Sons, Nadja Caramels, etc.) from the same era. The offered example displays vibrant colors, a crisp, clean image of Young, and even rounding to the corners. A small area of paper loss near the bottom of the card is present and does not detract from the card's visual appeal. Caramel cards in general are much rarer than tobacco cards of the era. Because they were issued with caramels one card per package and sold to children (as opposed to being sold to adults with tobacco), they also tend to survive in a much lower grade. Attractive example of one of the key Hall of Famers from this rare, early twentieth-century candy issue. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $720
