1888 N172 Old Judge Harry Wright

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,680

Graded POOR 10 by SGC. 1888 N172 Old Judge portrait of Hall of Famer Harry Wright. Magnificent example of one of the rarest of all Old Judge Hall of Famers. 1888 copyright date. There are three different poses of baseball's Harry Wright in the Old Judge set, as manager of the Philadelphia Nationals. All are portraits. Each is extremely rare. Do not be fooled by the modest assigned grade! The offered example presents as Excellent from the front, with a flawless surface and light touches of wear at the corners. The photograph is a little light in some areas, which is a common characteristic of most N172 Harry Wright cards. Centered slightly to the left. The blank reverse shows advanced paper loss, likely from album removal. It is of no consequence to the exceptional display value of this example! This is an outstanding example of one of Harry Wright's few baseball cards, and one of the most important cards in the Old Judge series. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,680
