1940 Play Ball Mel Ott Signed Baseball Card - PSA/DNA MINT 9

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,560

Exceptional and extremely desirable signed example of Mel Ott's 1940 Play Ball card #88. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature graded MINT 9. Ott's signature has been scripted in blue fountain pen across his image and contrasts extremely well against the light background. Ott was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1951, but died just seven years later in 1958 at the age of forty-nine. Therefore, Hall of Fame autograph collectors had just a short window of time to acquire his signature. Signed baseball cards of Ott are particularly rare. The card is slightly off-center with just a hint of corner wear. Ex+. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,560
