1912 T207 Brown Background Louis Lowdermilk - Broadleaf Back!
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $720
Encapsulated "Authentic" by SGC. Louis Lowdermilk has long been recognized as a key rarity of the T207 Brown Background tobacco-card series. In the 1930s, in the original American Card Catalog by Jefferson Burdick, Lowdermilk was listed as rarer and more valuable than any other card in the T207 set. (At that time, its value was listed at $1. The T206 Wagner was listed at $50.) Today collectors recognize many cards as being of various degrees of rarity in the T207 set, but Lowdermilk will always be the most famous key rarity of the classic T207 set. Encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC due to a very subtle trim along the right edge, the offered example features a clean, crisp portrait, with even wear to the corners and centering to the right. Crisp and clean reverse, which features a Broadleaf Cigarettes advertisement. This is a relatively affordable, yet still extremely presentable, example of one of the rarest cards in the T207 set and in all of tobacco-card collecting. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $720
