500 Home Run Club Signed Bat and Ball - Both with Mantle and Williams
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $3,000
Both this signed bat and ball were obtained by our consignor in person during the late 1980s at one of the first 500 Home Run Club signing shows in Atlantic City. As such, each piece features the signatures of the same eleven then-living club members: Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Eddie Mathews, Ernie Banks, Willie McCovey, Harmon Killebrew, Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson, and Frank Robinson. The 34-inch Rawlings "P302" bat has been signed by each player in blue Sharpie, with the signatures grading either "9" or "10." Mantle alone has added his career home-run total, "536," below his signature. A metal plaque bearing the engraved names of all eleven club members is affixed to the barrel. Nr-Mt. The official American League (Brown) ball has been signed in blue ink, with all of the signatures grading "10." Williams' signature sits alone on the sweet spot. Mint condition. These 500 Home Run Club Atlantic City signing-show pieces (in their originally issued state, with just eleven signatures) are becoming scarcer as time goes on, because many collectors continue to add players as the club's roster expands (it numbers twenty-six today). It should also be noted that five of the eleven signers are now deceased, so both of the offered items are requisites for anyone attempting to put together a complete, modern-day 500 Home Run Club autographed bat or ball collection. Total: 2 items (bat and ball). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $3,000
